Where are ADUs allowed:
All single-family residential zones as long as the lot conforms to the minimum lot size requirement of the specific residential zone that it is in.
Types of ADUs:
ADUs in Milford are allowed either completely within an existing principal building or added to the already existing principal building. Detached/standalone Accessory Apartments are not allowed.
Parking:
There are no additional parking requirements for ADUs.
Size:
The maximum size for an Accessory Apartment in Milford is 800 square feet.
Rental Use:
Renting of ADUs is permitted.
Other Requirements:
Property owner must reside in either the principal dwelling unit or the ADU.
Accessory Apartments can't have an exterior door on the front of the building.
